Poker Play on Hand Rankings

Hand ranking is the main core of the poker game. This is where who to declare the winner will be based from. Poker player's main goal in poker is to create a hand ranking of card combinations that will give them a profit. Typically, the poker player who exhibits the highest hand ranking in poker wins the pot at stake.

Being able to identify the various hand ranking in poker should be a part of a poker player's knowledge when learning how to play poker. This should include knowing which card values are needed to create the hand combination that will offer the highest ranking.

Playing for the royal flush is what many poker players are aspiring for. Royal flush basically represents the highest hand ranking in poker and it gives poker players the highest pot to win.

It is highly necessary to determine the various hand rankings when learning how to play poker. From the highest hand rank of royal flush it is followed by the straight flush, four of a kind, full house, flush, straight, three of a kind, two pair and one pair in descending hand ranking order.

Royal Flush - hand ranking with card values in a straight order of the same suit. Example will be 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace of the same suit or in reverse order from Ace to 10.

Straight Flush - hand ranking that constitutes card values in sequential order of the same suit. Example will be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 7, 5, 4, 3, 2 of cards on the same suit.

Four of a Kind - hand ranking of four cards that has similar value and 1 card of different value. Example will be 4 - 4 - 4 - 4 - King.

Full House - hand ranking consisting of three cards with the same value and a pair of cards. Example will be 7 - 7 - 7 - 5 -5.

Flush - hand ranking of five cards without any sequential order as long as of the same suit. Example will be 5 cards of spade of different card values or 5 cards of hearts of any card value.

Straight - hand ranking consisting of five cards in sequence order of any suit. Example will be 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack regardless of the card suits.

Three of a Kind - hand ranking that consists of three cards with the same value and two other cards of different values. Example will be 3 - 3 - 3 - 7 - 8.

Two Pair - hand ranking that involves two varied pairs of cards and a single card of different value. Example will be 6 - 6 - 8 - 8 - 4.

One Pair - hand ranking that has two cards of the same value with 3 other cards of different values. Example will be 2 - 2 - Jack - 10 - 4.

Each hand ranking will give poker players a payout. The higher the rank of the hand played by a poker player the higher will be their winnings.

Knowing how to play poker with good familiarity of the hand ranking involved will guide the player towards achieving the best hand value to attain by knowing which card is valuable in forming a winning hand combination.
